Full-Size Food Processors Compared (2026): Adjustable Slices or Presets?

Quick answer

Choose Breville Sous Chef 16 BFP810BSS1BNA1 for a 16-cup bowl, a 2.5-cup mini bowl and adjustable slicing thickness. Consider Ninja BN600C for a simpler nine-cup tool set with three Auto-iQ programs, but its current primary product page is Canadian; confirm the exact US electrical version and warranty before a US order. Bowl volume, attachment choice and storage space matter more than a bare motor-watt comparison.

Breville: varied cuts and a storage plan

Breville Sous Chef 16 BFP810 in brushed stainless steel
Manufacturer image from the exact US BFP810BSS1BNA1 page. App artwork does not change the included appliance accessories. Official product source.

Best for: Frequent large batches, varied slice widths and occasional small chopping batches in the supplied mini bowl.

The Sous Chef 16 includes both a main bowl and mini bowl, along with an adjustable slicer and separate French-fry disc. Its three-part feed chute accommodates different ingredient sizes, and a separate container stores the attachments. This tool set is relevant when your recurring preparation includes different slice thicknesses or both small and large batches.

Plan a location for the appliance and its storage box. More accessories are useful when they replace repeated work; they also require retrieval, cleaning and storage. Follow the manual’s assembly and feed-pusher instructions for each blade or disc.

Pros

  • The 24-position adjustable slicer supports different thickness choices without swapping discs for each cut.
  • The included mini bowl and blade address small amounts without using the full 16-cup vessel.
  • A separate storage container gives the many attachments a documented home.

Cons and trade-offs

  • The large unit and separate storage box claim more shelf or cabinet room; measure both before ordering.
  • More discs and blades mean more setup, cleaning and inventory to manage.
  • The broad tool set adds little value if your routine is limited to chopping one bowl size.

Choose another if: You need a compact, low-accessory workflow and rarely use adjustable slicing or the mini bowl.

Our recommendation

Choose the exact US Breville SKU when the slicing range and second bowl replace real preparation steps. List the discs you will actually use and reserve storage for the main unit and accessory case.

Ninja: fewer tools with automatic programs

Ninja BN600C nine-cup food processor
Manufacturer image of Canadian BN600C. Verify electrical compatibility and US warranty eligibility; it is not BN601. Official product source.

Best for: A nine-cup chopping, dough and reversible slicing/shredding workflow when a correctly rated local unit can be confirmed.

The current SharkNinja Canada BN600C page identifies an 850-watt motor, a nine-cup bowl and three Auto-iQ programs. It lists chopping and dough blades with a reversible slicing/shredding disc. This is a different tool approach from selecting among Breville’s cut sizes.

The older BN601 source now resolves to BN600C, which is a different identifier. We do not transfer BN601 specifications. The old US BN600C URL now redirects to unrelated SS401 blender content. The currently reachable exact-model page is Canadian and does not establish US voltage, plug or warranty eligibility. Confirm the rating label, plug and US warranty eligibility before treating a marketplace listing as a suitable purchase.

Pros

  • The documented nine-cup bowl and three Auto-iQ programs cover common chopping and dough tasks.
  • The included reversible disc handles slicing and shredding with one disc, simplifying the accessory set.
  • The published set includes the feed-chute lid, chopping blade, dough blade and disc adapter, so a buyer can check the retail box item by item.

Cons and trade-offs

  • No mini bowl is in the reviewed included set, and the disc is not an adjustable-thickness Breville equivalent.
  • Auto-iQ presets cannot replace every manual cutting decision; the desired texture still depends on ingredient and blade.
  • BN600C has a Canadian primary listing. A US buyer must confirm electrical label, plug and support before ordering.

Choose another if: You need documented US electrical suitability without seller clarification, a small-batch bowl or adjustable slice thickness.

Our recommendation

For a US purchase today, Breville is the clearer documented exact-SKU choice. Treat BN600C as a conditional comparison until the offered unit’s label and warranty are verified; do not substitute BN601 or SS401 specifications.

Choose using the ingredients you repeat

List your three most frequent preparation jobs and the necessary tool for each. If none needs adjustable slice thickness, a large accessory collection may add little value. If a small bowl is frequently useful, check that it and its matching blade are included rather than assuming them from a product-family photo.

Neither motor wattage nor bowl capacity proves finer chopping or better dough. For smaller machines with slicing discs, see our seven- versus thirteen-cup comparison. For sauces and small chopping jobs without discs, see our mini chopper guide.

Practical buying guide

  1. Write down three frequent jobs. Name the needed bowl, blade or disc for each before comparing motor labels.
  2. Measure storage. Breville includes a separate attachment container; Ninja still needs room for a bowl, lid, blade and disc.
  3. Check the complete kit. Confirm exact blades, pusher, adapter, mini bowl and storage box against the offered SKU.
  4. Verify power and region. The BN600C evidence here is Canadian and does not certify a US marketplace unit.
  5. Plan cleanup safely. Read each manual for removable-part washing and handle blades by their safe grip points.

Food processor FAQ

Does a larger motor rating prove better chopping?

No. Motor ratings are electrical specifications. Blade geometry, load size, food and program all affect the result; we did not run a head-to-head test.

Can the Ninja disc choose 24 slice thicknesses?

The BN600C included set lists a reversible slicing/shredding disc, not the Breville 24-position adjustable slicer.

Is BN600C the same as BN601?

No. The suffix identifies a different listed model. The old US URL now points to an unrelated SS401 page, so do not transfer specifications from it.

Research method, sources and limits

We checked Breville US documentation for BFP810BSS1BNA1 and the current SharkNinja Canada BN600C page on September 27, 2026. Bowl sizes, attachments and control options are manufacturer statements. We did not process food, measure cut consistency or compare noise and cleaning time. The US voltage and warranty applicability of a BN600C marketplace unit remain unresolved, so no US suitability claim is made.
