APC P11U2 vs Belkin BE112230-08 Surge Protectors (2026)

Manufacturer documents checked September 27, 2026. We reviewed exact-model manufacturer documentation. We have not electrically tested surge suppression, component aging or protection claims. This comparison focuses on connections and installation needs.

APC P11U2 and Belkin BE112230-08 provide many outlets and an eight-foot cord for desk or entertainment equipment. APC adds USB charging; Belkin offers another AC outlet and coaxial and telephone connections. Neither is a battery backup and neither keeps equipment running through an outage.

Quick answer: count the connection types

APC P11U2 makes sense when eleven AC outlets and two modest USB charging ports suit your desk. Belkin BE112230-08 offers twelve AC outlets and coaxial and telephone pass-through protection, which matters only when those lines are actually part of your equipment path. Both list eight-foot cords. Neither provides battery backup, and manufacturer joule figures alone cannot establish a real-world winner. These are fit recommendations based on published connections, not electrical test results.

APC P11U2: USB charging alongside AC power

Best for: A desk or entertainment setup with several AC plugs and two small USB devices that can use the manufacturer’s shared 5V/2.4A USB output.

Schneider Electric’s P11U2 manual describes eleven receptacles, six spaces intended for larger adapters, an eight-foot cable and two USB outputs sharing 5V/2.4A. The USB pair is convenient for low-demand accessories, but its shared ceiling means two plugged-in devices cannot each assume the whole allowance. There is no USB-C Power Delivery laptop-charging claim in the referenced material. Make a paper plug map before buying: a wall-wart may cover a nominally free receptacle even when the strip has enough outlets on paper.

Pros

  • Eleven AC positions and six adapter-spaced areas support a crowded desk layout.
  • Two integrated USB ports can avoid a separate small charging brick when their shared output is enough.
  • The eight-foot cord offers placement flexibility within the maker’s installation rules.

Cons and trade-offs

  • USB power is shared and modest by current laptop-charging standards.
  • One fewer AC outlet than the Belkin.
  • No battery backup or specified coaxial/telephone path in this comparison.

Choose another if: You need a USB-C laptop charger, coaxial or phone-line protection, or continued operation through an outage.

Our recommendation

Choose P11U2 when the USB pair replaces a small charger you already need and your actual plugs fit the outlet spacing. Check the exact P11U2 label; a similar APC strip can have different connectors.

Belkin BE112230-08: more AC outlets and signal lines

Best for: A television or office installation that truly uses coaxial or RJ11 telephone connections as well as many AC adapters.

Belkin BE112230-08 12-outlet surge protector

Belkin specifies twelve outlets with six spaced for larger plugs, an eight-foot cord and coaxial and telephone connections. That extra AC position matters only when the actual plugs fit. Signal-line protection also depends on routing those lines through the protector as instructed; unused ports do not create a benefit. The page’s copy and technical table disagree on joules, so this article intentionally leaves that number out of the comparison table.

Pros

  • Twelve outlets give one more AC position than P11U2.
  • Coaxial and RJ11 pass-throughs address systems that still have those lines.
  • Six spaced positions help with larger power bricks.

Cons and trade-offs

  • No integrated USB charging in the compared layout.
  • Coax and phone paths add no practical value to a system without those cables.
  • Belkin’s own page conflicts on its joule figure, leaving that metric unresolved.

Choose another if: Your device layout needs integrated low-power USB charging more than signal ports or an extra AC socket.

Our recommendation

Choose the Belkin when the signal connectors and twelfth outlet solve a real wiring need. Ask Belkin to clarify the conflicting energy rating if your purchasing policy requires that exact number.

Why we do not rank by joules

The Belkin page reviewed gives conflicting energy ratings: 3,940 joules in its product copy and 3,780J in its technical table. We do not resolve that conflict by selecting the larger number or using it to declare a winner. Confirm the exact unit’s documentation with the manufacturer if the rating is central to your purchase.

Even an internally consistent energy rating is not an independent lifetime or protection test. We have no common test of how these two units age, clamp a surge or protect a particular device.

Before installation

  • Match the unit to the local supply and follow its manual’s load limit.
  • Use the required properly grounded wall connection and follow the manufacturer’s placement instructions.
  • Keep status indicators visible and follow the replacement instructions when protection is no longer indicated.
  • Do not treat a power strip as a remedy for faulty wiring.

If your priority is keeping a computer on long enough to shut down, read our UPS comparison instead of expecting battery power from a surge strip.

Surge-protector questions

Will either keep a computer running when the lights go out?

No. Neither contains a battery. If a safe shutdown window is the requirement, compare a suitable UPS and its power and battery ratings, including our UPS guide.

Does a higher joule figure prove better protection?

No universal performance ranking follows from that one number. The Belkin page currently conflicts with itself, and this article has no shared laboratory surge test or aging test.

Can APC’s USB ports charge a USB-C laptop?

The documented USB outputs share 5V/2.4A. They are not presented as USB-C PD laptop chargers.

Can a strip fix an ungrounded or overloaded wall socket?

No. Follow each maker’s grounding, load and placement instructions. Have a qualified electrician address a questionable outlet or circuit.

Research method, sources and limits

We checked the Schneider Electric P11U2/P11U2-CA North American manual, APC exact-model image page and Belkin BE112230-08 product page on September 27, 2026. Connections and ratings are manufacturer claims; buying recommendations are editorial judgments. We did not electrically test surge suppression, component aging, indicator behavior or protection for any specific device. Belkin’s copy says 3,940 joules while its table says 3,780J; the conflict remains unresolved. The buttons are tagged model searches, not verified ASINs or listings. Read our methodology.
