Laptop Cooling Pads: IETS GT500 V2 vs KLIM Wind

By The Gear Audit Team · Specification research September 10, 2026; layout and image sourcing updated September 13, 2026.

Quick answer: sealed intake alignment or an open four-fan tray?

Consider the IETS GT500 V2 when a laptop’s underside intakes can sit within its sealing foam and its single variable-speed turbofan design fits the desk. Consider KLIM Wind when an open tray, four listed fans and lighter listed weight fit instead. Neither maker’s specification predicts cooling, sound or fit for a particular laptop.

For an intake-aligned sealed design: GT500 V2

Confirm underside ventilation openings, the foam perimeter and V2-specific included power details.

For a lighter open tray: KLIM Wind

Check tray footprint, front pegs and rear-leg angle against the laptop, beyond screen size alone.

IETS GT500 V2: for a sealed intake path

Best for: Laptop owners whose underside intakes can align with the GT500 V2 sealing foam.

IETS lists a V2-specific 18 W adapter, USB expansion, RGB lighting, seven height settings and a single variable-speed turbofan. Consider it only after confirming the laptop has underside intakes that can line up with the foam. Its 70 mm chassis and 2.54 lb listed weight are practical desk-fit trade-offs.

Pros

  • A sealed air path. The foam perimeter is designed to direct the pad’s airflow toward underside vents instead of across the whole laptop base.
  • More height choices. Seven settings give more scope to adjust screen and keyboard position than the KLIM Wind’s two listed angles.
  • Desk connectivity. The V2 USB expansion can accommodate peripherals at the cooling-pad position.

Cons and trade-offs

  • Fit depends on underside vent placement. A laptop whose intakes fall outside the foam cannot use the sealed path as intended.
  • It takes more vertical and carrying space. The listed 70 mm height and 2.54 lb weight make it thicker and heavier than the 31 mm, 730 g KLIM Wind.
  • It needs its 18 W adapter. Plan space for the adapter and an outlet rather than powering the pad only from a laptop USB connection.

Choose something else if: Choose KLIM Wind if the underside layout cannot align with the foam, the desk has limited vertical space, or a lighter USB-powered tray is easier to move.

Our recommendation

We recommend GT500 V2 only after measuring the laptop base and confirming the intakes sit inside the foam perimeter. Choose KLIM Wind when a thinner, lighter open tray and simpler USB power fit the desk better.

KLIM Wind: for the documented open tray

Best for: Laptop owners who want a lighter open tray after measuring their laptop footprint.

KLIM lists four fans, a metallic grid, front pegs, two rear-leg positions, one extra USB port and 730 g weight. It is the option to investigate when a thinner, lighter open tray fits the laptop and desk.

Pros

  • Easier to move between desks. The listed 730 g weight is lower than the GT500 V2’s 2.54 lb.
  • Less height under the laptop. At 3.1 cm high, the tray uses less vertical desk space than the 7 cm GT500 V2.
  • A simple open platform. The metallic grid and front pegs do not require the laptop’s intake vents to fit within a foam perimeter.

Cons and trade-offs

  • Larger laptops can overhang. KLIM says 17.3- to 19-inch laptops may extend beyond the tray, so screen size alone does not confirm stable placement.
  • Only two working angles are listed. The 0° and 13° positions give less adjustment choice than the GT500 V2’s seven settings.
  • No sealed intake path. Buyers specifically seeking a foam seal around underside vents should choose the GT500 V2 after checking alignment.

Choose something else if: Choose GT500 V2 if a compatible underside intake, sealed path or more height settings is the main requirement.

Our recommendation

We recommend KLIM Wind when its tray dimensions and front pegs fit the laptop and a thinner, lighter pad matters more than a sealed intake. Choose GT500 V2 for a compatible laptop when the foam path and broader height adjustment justify the extra bulk and adapter.

Cooling-pad buying questions

Does screen size establish fit?

No. Measure width and depth, and locate underside intake and exhaust openings.

Does a higher listed RPM prove lower temperatures?

No. It does not establish cooling or noise on a particular laptop.

Which GT500 model is covered?

GT500 V2. Do not substitute B0, V1 or S2 claims or included accessories.

Are Amazon links exact offers?

No. They are tagged model searches; check model, adapter, seller and return terms.

Research method, limitations and update record

Research updated September 10, 2026. We compared manufacturer-published fit, fan-design, power and hardware information. We did not test cooling, acoustics, USB reliability, fit, build quality or lifespan.

Correction: Unsupported legacy tests, temperatures, airflow and decibel readings, ratings, prices and ASIN implications are removed. September 13 restores buyer navigation and model sections, retains the verified KLIM image, and adds an observed IETS gallery image whose visible feature combination matches V2. It does not treat another GT500 variant’s specifications as V2 facts.
