Robot Vacuums for Pet Hair: Brushes, Bins and Upkeep

By The Gear Audit Team · Manufacturer documentation checked September 27, 2026.

Quick answer

For long pet hair, inspect the main brush ends and side-brush hub before trusting an anti-tangle claim. For a pet that sheds heavily, compare bin access and the dock’s bag supply. Roborock Qrevo Curv and iRobot’s K151020 vacuum-only system show different documented approaches, but manufacturer brush descriptions cannot establish which will pick up more fur in your home.

Two documented brush approaches

Roborock Qrevo Curv uses the manufacturer’s DuoDivide main brush and FlexiArm side-brush design. The layout is relevant to assessing hair maintenance, but we do not treat its advertised anti-tangle percentages as our own results. Check the exact Curv section, because the same page includes other variants.

Roomba Plus 504 Vac with AutoEmpty Dock, K151020 documents dual rubber brushes and an edge-sweeping brush. It is a vacuum-only example, whereas Qrevo Curv also has mopping and related dock care. That difference matters if you want hair pickup without adding water and pad maintenance.

Neither brush description establishes better fur pickup, less wrapping or cleaner air in your home. Compare accessible parts and upkeep requirements alongside the functions you need.

Plan for peak shedding

Build the routine around your busiest shedding period, not just an average day. Check how the onboard bin and dock intake can be inspected, whether bags and filters are readily available for the exact model, and what replacements cost at the time of purchase.

If long hair is the main issue, plan brush inspection even when no error is reported. If tracked litter dominates, accessible intake and filter parts may matter more than broad pet-focused marketing. Read our pet-home scheduling guide for room preparation and obstacle limitations.

Two brush-and-dock approaches

Roborock Qrevo Curv

Best for: Long-hair households that also want mopping and automated pad care.

Roborock lists DuoDivide main brush and FlexiArm side brush on the exact Curv section. The parts are relevant to where hair might wrap and how easily you can inspect them; the maker’s anti-tangle percentages remain its own test claims.

Pros

  • Two named brush designs make maintenance questions specific.
  • Full-service dock can reduce some manual emptying and pad handling.

Cons and trade-offs

  • Water tanks and mop pads add upkeep beyond a vacuum-only robot.
  • Brush ends and the side-brush hub still need inspection during heavy shedding.

Choose another if: You want a simple dry vacuum without mop-related maintenance.

Our recommendation

Consider Curv if wet cleaning is genuinely useful; inspect brush ends during peak shedding regardless of the advertising claim.

iRobot K151020 vacuum-only system

Best for: A pet home that wants dry vacuuming and auto-emptying without pads, tanks or mop detergent.

iRobot’s K151020 page documents dual rubber brushes, an edge brush and an AutoEmpty dock. Its page title says “Plus 504 Vac” while the current box-content text says “Max 504 Vac”; use item code K151020 to identify the offer until iRobot resolves that naming conflict.

Pros

  • Dual rubber rollers offer a concrete brush layout to inspect.
  • Vacuum-only design avoids water and pad chores.

Cons and trade-offs

  • It cannot mop dried paw prints or food spills; a separate wet-cleaning tool remains necessary.
  • The bagged dock still needs replacement bags, filter care and occasional intake cleaning.

Choose another if: You need wet mopping in the same robot or cannot verify item K151020 in a listing.

Our recommendation

Use K151020 as the checkable identifier and confirm the named dock and bag supply before purchase. The naming conflict does not justify a performance ranking.

Questions before buying

Does anti-tangle mean I never clean the brush?

No. Check roller ends and side-brush hubs during shedding season; maker claims do not eliminate inspection.

Is an auto-empty dock useful for pet hair?

It can reduce how often you empty the robot by hand, but bags, intake and filters still need care. Assess your pet’s actual debris load after purchase.

Which is better for cat litter?

Published brush designs alone cannot settle pickup of a particular litter on your floors. Check independent exact-model tests if that debris is your main concern.

Research method and primary sources

Manufacturer descriptions establish claimed features and product identity; the buyer scenarios and recommendations are editorial judgments. We did not run cleaning, navigation, pet-hair, noise or durability tests and cannot rank these models by measured performance.
